Certificate of Birth, Death and Marriage in Japan
In Japan, a letter size or A4 size certificate of Birth, Certificate of Death, or a Certificate of Marriage is not available. Rather, one such document will show all (or part of) a man or woman’s life. At minimum the certificate will bear the name, sex, date of birth and place of birth, names of father and mother etc. If a person marries, the date of marriage and name of his or her spouse are also shown. If he/she has an unmarried child, the name of that child is also shown on the same document. One certificate is created per family – father, mother and their unmarried children.

Need a Certificate of Inheritance

Do you need to determine who the lawful heirs of a Japanese person are?
As mentioned above, in Japan, a Certificate of Birth, Death and Marriage is available. However, it will probably include more information than is necessary, and it may show one or two the man’s heirs, but it will not show who all of the legal heirs of a particular person are.

Certificate of Inheritance

A certificate of Inheritance shows the name of the ancestor, dates of birth, dates of death, last address and all legal heirs’ names, date of birth and family relationship with the ancestor.
